PRESS RELEASE: Dr. Katherine Gaulke, Democratic Candidate for Wisconsin's 32nd Assembly District, Earns Iron Workers Local #8 Endorsement
Elkhorn, WI - Dr. Katherine Gaulke, Democratic candidate for Wisconsin’s 32nd Assembly District, has added the Iron Workers Local #8 to her growing list of campaign endorsements, which includes WEAC, Moms Demand Action, BlueWave Crowdsource, Clean Wisconsin Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Action of Wisconsin, Run for Something, and Walworth County Democrats and Kenosha County Democrats.
The Iron Workers Local #8 has a long and storied history of fighting for worker’s rights. On June 26, 1896, the National Association of Bridge and Structural Ironworkers issued a charter to the Milwaukee chapter, and the organization now covers northeastern and southeastern Wisconsin as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
“One of the many ways I stand with Wisconsin workers is in their fight for prevailing wage,” Dr. Gaulke stated. “Prevailing wage is a legacy of the trade union movement, and delivers a fair market, local wage to the hard-working men and women who repair our bridges and roads. Prevailing wage keeps skilled workers on the job and helps improve our economy by providing quality infrastructure at an efficient cost.”
“I look forward to representing the many construction workers in my district when I get to Madison by reinstating the prevailing wage law, legislation my opponent co-sponsored to repeal as of Jan. 1, 2017. He wants to see workers make less, whereas I stand with my future constituents and want to see workers make more,” Katherine added.
