Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Running for District 32 Assembly has been an amazing journey and I’m so glad you have been a part of it with me. While the fall 2018 election outcome may not have been what we wanted, I’m proud of what we accomplished.

I'm grateful to my family (especially my husband, Jason) and to all of you for your support during this campaign. To each and every volunteer and donor that gave their time and treasures, and to everyone who voted for me - THANK YOU!

We were able, in our extremely gerrymandered district, to get folks to look beyond party and to look at the candidate they were voting for. We know this because in the fall 2018 election, I received more votes in District 32 than Governor-elect Evers in every community. Our community voted across party lines. This is something to celebrate.

We also beat my opponent in the City of Delavan, and City of Lake Geneva Wards 1 & 4. This has NEVER been done before against my opponent. In past elections, he had won every single community – a democrat had never beaten him before. But we did. We sent a message – we are here, we care, and we are voting.

This friends, is the beginning of a movement – and you made it happen. Yes, YOU made this happen. We earned 41% of the vote, over 10,000 people voted for Gaulke for Assembly. 10,182 to be exact. Amazing.

I will continue to advocate for the people of Assembly District 32.  I’ll continue to volunteer for Walworth County Community Alliance, Open Arms Free Clinic, Meals on Wheels, the Rotary Club, and whereever else I am able to serve. I believe in servant leadership. I believe our community can be better. I’ll still work to ensure everyone has access to affordable healthcare, improved public safety, and I’ll still push for our roads to get fixed as a citizen representative on the Town of Delavan Public Works Committee.

Please save your Gaulke for Assembly yard signs for 2020, we are not done yet!! If you don't have storage space, please bring them to the Walworth County Democrats office or we will come get them.

Over the next two years, you need to stay active and involved; we cannot be quiet until next election season. Stay vigilant.

Write letters to the editor, write emails & letters to our representative,  call our representative, ask to meet with our representative, document your attempts and responses received, comment on social media - we must hold our representative accountable for his votes and also where he is spending his time and our taxpayer money (seriously, check out those per diems!). Is it here with us or is it with big money PACS in other states? We deserve a representative that actually listens to us, that lives here, that knows what it is like to be a District 32 resident, and that responds to our letters, emails and phone calls.

Stay in touch. 2020 here we come!

All the best,
Katherine
